At Madison Regional Health System, a 22-bed critical access hospital in eastern South Dakota, physician Laura Hoefert says the Epic EHR has cut down time clinicians once spent hunting for patient records and helps her coordinate care for complex cases—including arranging a timely transfer for a patient with preeclampsia. Since its 2025 go-live, the EHR has also reduced duplicate testing, supported clinician recruitment, and eliminated the need for dictation services.
