By increasing the kinds of text responses the automated system understands, Ochsner achieved a 21% increase in appointment confirmation rates—from 43% to 52%. It also estimates it saved more than 500 call center hours in seven months.

After patient feedback revealed a desire for more empathetic, nuanced conversations about weight, M Health Fairview implemented an Epic feature that lets patients opt out of seeing their weight and BMI on the After Visit Summary. Staff received training to ensure this preference is honored during visits. In the first ten months, around 12,500 patients opted out of seeing their weight.
