A diagnosis of a life-changing condition can raise more questions than answers. With this sharing technology, patients can have access to their data, helping them be a part of their own health care plan.
Laura Hobson, Head of Patient Flow at Royal Devon University Healthcare, shares her personal story of how Epic and MyChart helped her in a difficult time. When her daughter was born in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, both Laura and the baby experienced complications that required critical care. They were placed in different hospital wards, and Laura was unable to see her daughter or her husband. Even though she was separated from her family, Laura was able to get the information she needed and stay in the know about what was happening with her daughter through the MyCare patient portal [MyChart]. This personal experience has made Laura even more motivated as a healthcare worker as she’s seen the positive impact the technology can have on patients’ lives.
