Garden Plot (“we” or “our”) provides an electronic medical record developed by Epic Systems Corporation (“Epic”) for use by a variety of participating healthcare organizations.
Our SMS text messaging program is used to send text messages to patients and other individuals who interact with participating healthcare organizations. Messages may include appointment reminders, links to join video visits, notifications from a participating healthcare provider, reminders to pay bills, and more.
This Privacy Policy
This policy describes how participating healthcare organizations and Garden Plot collect and use your information when you use the Garden Plot SMS text messaging program. We may update this policy at any time, and future updates are effective as soon as they are published. This policy is incorporated into the Garden Plot SMS Text Messaging terms and conditions below.
Your Personal Information
The Limited Ways We Use Your Information
We and Epic do not sell or license your information. These are the limited ways we interact with your information in connection with the Garden Plot SMS text messaging program:
- When you agree to receive text messages from our SMS text messaging program, we store your phone number and your communication preferences. You might signify your agreement to receive text messages from our SMS text messaging program by:

- Signing up while seeking care at a healthcare organization
- Filling out a paper form at a healthcare organization that collects a phone number from you for use with text messages
- Entering a phone number online or in our mobile applications
- Sending a text message containing a keyword to your healthcare organization
- When you communicate with your healthcare organization, we collect the times you send and receive messages, the healthcare organization you interact with, actions taken, the number of responses you send, and the content of messages sent and received. We and your healthcare organization use this information to provide customer service to you. We also use it to understand how people use our text messaging program and improve our products. You may contact us through the “Contact Garden Plot” link below, or through the methods listed on Epic’s website. If you contact us, we may keep a record of the communication. You can decide how much information you want to share with us in those cases.
Your Healthcare Organizations
To use our SMS text messaging program, you must have a relationship with a participating healthcare organization.
Your use of our SMS text messaging program is also subject to your healthcare organization’s privacy policy. Please contact your healthcare organization if you have any questions about their privacy policy.
How We Protect Your Personal Information
We use technical and administrative controls and safeguards to protect the privacy, security, integrity, and availability of your personal information.
- We maintain internal policies and processes that limit access to your information to our staff who need to know the information to perform their jobs, including Garden Plot staff and staff from Epic’s technical services team.
- We maintain internal data retention and deletion policies to help us ensure we only store information about your use of our SMS text messaging program as described in this policy.
Each participating healthcare organization also uses safeguards to protect your information. Please contact your healthcare organization if you have any questions about their safeguards.
While we take precautions to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee that hackers or unauthorized personnel will not gain access to your personal information despite our efforts. You should note that in using our SMS text messaging program, your information will travel through our third party messaging vendor’s platform and may also travel through other channels that are not under our control (such as your cell carrier’s network).

Garden Plot SMS Text Messaging Program
When you sign up for our SMS text messaging program, you are signing up to receive text messages related to your relationship with participating healthcare organizations. Messages may include appointment reminders, links to join video visits, notifications from a participating healthcare provider, reminders to pay bills, and more. The current participating healthcare organizations are listed on the “Healthcare Organization Contact Information” page below.
The Garden Plot SMS Text Messaging Privacy Policy for Patients applies to your use of our SMS text messaging program.
You can opt-out of receiving messages from a participating healthcare organization through our SMS text messaging program at any time by texting STOP to the respective short code. Your opt-out request will generate one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. After that, you will no longer receive SMS messages from that participating healthcare organization. If you want to join again, sign up using EpicMyChart.com or text HELP to the short code for instructions.
If you are experiencing issues with our SMS text messaging program you can reply to any text message with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at your healthcare organizations.
Cell carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Message and data rates may apply for any text messages you send or receive through our SMS text message program. Message frequency may vary. If you have any questions about your text or data plan, contact your cell carrier.
