The Power of the Peer Group

Texas Health Resources used Epic to reduce their catheter line days by 26%. In the Epic community, successes are shared, spreading from one organization to the next through the Foundation System, Clinical and Revenue Cycle Programs, and other collaboration platforms. That’s how this catheter-associated UTI initiative that started at Texas Health made its way to Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. When Sparrow implemented the same program, they saw similar results: a 20% reduction in catheter line days.
“We got clinicians at Sparrow excited to do the CAUTI program from what they saw Texas Health do, and we formed a collaborative relationship that we’re able to carry over to other areas,” said Sparrow CNIO Chris Nemets.
