Hypertensive Patients Reduce Blood Pressure with Epic and Digital Devices

At-home monitoring helps patients improve blood pressure within 90 days

A digital medicine program for hypertensive patients at Ochsner has helped 71% of participants achieve their goal blood pressure within 90 days, compared to 31% of patients who received regular office-based care.

Patients in the program filled out MyChart questionnaires about their condition and measured their own blood pressure at home with a digital cuff at least once a week. The blood pressure readings flowed into Epic to calculate a real-time risk score, helping providers intervene proactively with at-risk patients.
