Going Picking at Epic’s App Orchard Conference

Among fall temperatures and golden leaves, Epic community members and vendors gathered to learn more about Epic’s App Orchard program at the third annual Epic App Orchard conference.
App Orchard provides participating developers with technologies, testing tools, technical support, and learning opportunities for developing interfaces between their apps and Epic software. With over 500 participating companies, App Orchard has quadrupled in size by number of vendors since the inaugural conference in 2017.
The conference provided a forum for app developers and executives from vendors and Epic community members to share insights and learn from Epic experts. It included usability labs, hands-on working sessions, meet-the-experts sessions focused on topics like FHIR and clinical decision support, and sessions led by developers from technology companies and health systems.
“Our customers are excited that we’re part of App Orchard because this platform makes it simple for them to make personalized community referrals,” said Lisa Lee-Herbert, implementation and product support lead for NowPow, a company with an app listed in App Orchard.
This year, Epic highlighted a recently launched free online resource for developers called Epic USCDI on FHIR, which enables external apps to access most U.S. Core Data for Interoperability data elements.
