Epic Community Members Recognized for Equality in LGBTQ Healthcare

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index scores participating healthcare organizations on their policies for the equitable treatment of LGBTQ patients and staff. About 60% of the healthcare facilities named as LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leaders in 2019 are affiliated with members of the Epic community.
The HRC also recognized Epic last year for taking a step forward in caring for LGBTQ patients by including data elements for legal sex, sex assigned at birth, and gender identity. Gender identity information and preferred name information can be standardly collected in Epic. Many Epic community members are making great strides in the treatment of LGBTQ patients, such as Denver Health, and inclusive data collection in Epic can support these initiatives.
