Epic and Microsoft Bring GPT-4 to EHRs

Epic and Microsoft integrate AI into the EHR, allowing healthcare providers to improve productivity & patient communication with AI-enabled solutions.

Epic and Microsoft announced that we are working together to integrate generative AI technology into the electronic health record for the first time. There are two initial AI-enabled solutions developed in the first iteration of the integration. The first use case occurs through In Basket, allowing clinicians to use generative AI to create a draft response when communicating asynchronously with patients. The second use case allows providers to use AI to source recommendations from Slicer Dicer, our data visualization tool, where the system will automatically recommend different metrics based on search criteria.
