Ella’s Deli Carousel Finds a New Home

As you stroll through Epic’s Voyager Hall Learning Center, a colorful piece of Madison’s history now greets you: an antique Jumping Horse Carry-Us-All carousel.

When Ella’s Deli, a Madison landmark, closed in 2018, many in the community wondered what would happen to the deli’s famous carousel. Built by the C.W. Parker Amusement Company in 1927 and restored by Ella’s Deli owners Ken and Judy Balkin, the carousel delighted kids and adults alike. Now the carousel has a new home at Epic, where it will remain in working order for rides during special events and continue to thrill the young at heart.
