Design, Data, and Ongoing Training Boost Provider EHR Satisfaction
December 6, 2021
Guthrie improved happiness by involving providers in EHR decisions and taking a data-driven approach to EHR training.
Terri Couts, VP of clinical systems at Guthrie, a health system in southern New York and northern Pennsylvania, worked as part of a group of IT and clinical leadership to incorporate provider input in prioritizing EHR projects and to target efficiency improvements with EHR changes and training. As a result, Guthrie has measured significant improvements in efficiency and overall satisfaction with the EHR.
How they did it:
Added clinicians to EHR governance structure
Identified less efficient providers who needed support
Prioritized EHR changes that improve physician productivity
Developed peer-to-peer and one-to-one training programs
