Tech-Savvy Seniors Look to Healthcare Technology
Demand for virtual health access rises as baby boomers age
A new study has found that the vast majority of Medicare recipients access the internet at least once a day. Although two-thirds of seniors surveyed said that access to their health information is important, only 28% currently have access to their own electronic health records.
To help bridge the gap, healthcare providers are looking to patient engagement tools like Epic’s MyChart to give patients more access to their health information. Particularly as the healthcare market prepares for more baby boomers to reach retirement age, features like online remote monitoring, prescription refill requests, appointment scheduling, and provider messaging are all expected to be in high demand.
