Nemours, Boston Children's use Uber to improve patient access

For elderly and low-income patients, the hurdles to getting to medical appointments can feel insurmountable. Paying for a taxi, parking in a crowded city, and long bus rides are a few of the obstacles that lead to patients missing appointments and forgoing preventative care.
Epic community members Boston Children’s and Nemours are piloting Circulation, a platform that has partnered with Uber to provide reliable, affordable, and accessible transportation to non-urgent appointments. The hope is that ride-sharing platforms, along with telemedicine, will improve access for the estimated 3.6 million U.S. patients who miss medical appointments each year because of transportation challenges.
