EHRs Recognized as One of the Top 25 Healthcare Innovations

A recent survey asked participants to vote for the top healthcare innovations, and the results are in.
The electronic health record received the most votes, cited for its role in “digitizing healthcare information and making it easier to store, share and analyze data.” Following EHRs, the second, third, and fourth spots were taken by accountable care and population health, the internet, and big data, respectively. The list of top innovations did not lack in diversity, spanning from methodologies like lean process improvement, to medical techniques like laparoscopic surgery. Yet while the list includes a vast variety of innovations, they are all tied by the common goal of improving patient care through advances in precision, accessibility, and convenience.
