MyChart supports six new emojis that patients can use to communicate with their care team. Instead of filling out longwinded reason for visit questionnaires, patients can simply choose emojis when they schedule their appointments.

“I use emojis all the time in my daily life, so why shouldn’t I be able to send them to my doctor?” said a patient at UW Health in Madison. “I have saved so much time scheduling appointments with this new system and I really feel like my care team understands me better.” Emojis that patients submit through MyChart appear in clinicians’ schedules and file to a patient’s Epic chart so doctors can trend their symptoms over time.
