Square Meals in Summer

Gundersen Health System provided free meals to children over the summer

As part of the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, Gundersen Health System helped address food insecurity when school free lunch programs weren’t available by serving more than 60 meals per day.
They provided free meals to anyone under the age of 18, including patients and their siblings. Marge Ley, a pediatric dietician at Gundersen, noted, “Many pediatric patients are here for multiple clinic appointments and often with siblings. Parents were so thankful to be able to receive these healthy and great-tasting meals for their children.”
