At Epic, User Experience Collaboration Is by Design

In a studio full of design resources for Epic staff, there's a high chance of participation

When Epic employees want to talk through their ideas, they can drop in to the design studio, a creative space where software usability experts offer insight and feedback. “The studio is the beating heart of our user experience design team,” said Cathy Fisher, one of Epic’s user experience designers.

By helping software designers make their ideas visible, the studio encourages collaboration across teams. A vibrant space filled with corkboards for pinning up sketches, a large screen to show development in progress, and a whiteboard wall to fill with designs means inspiration is never in short supply. On spare wall space, designers post colorful ideas for Epic’s future to unite developers’ visions. In the studio, creating tools that will delight users is on everyone’s radar.
