Duke Awarded HIMSS Stage 7

Duke Health’s high-tech e-health initiatives were among the innovations that HIMSS Analytics recognized when awarding Duke the Stage 7 Outpatient Certification for EHR excellence.

As one of the first organizations to integrate Apple’s HealthKit with Epic, Duke developed a program that monitors patients with congestive heart failure post-discharge using digital scales, activity trackers, and blood pressure cuffs. These devices send data back to Epic, where clinicians monitor the data and follow up on abnormalities.

Duke has also integrated SMART on FHIR apps with Epic and has developed an autism study through Apple ResearchKit app.
