While the keynote speakers George W. Bush and Howard Dean brought 2004 to mind, attendees of the Becker’s Hospital Review Annual Meeting in April were thinking ahead to 2024 and beyond. Presenters expect disruption in the healthcare sphere to come from retail providers like CVS and Walgreens, and large employers like Boeing negotiating company-specific contracts with healthcare providers. Such changes will affect the role of patients in how and where healthcare will take place.
