St. Louis-based Mercy was one of four organizations recognized as a HIMSS Davies Enterprise Award winner for 2016. The prestigious award honors healthcare organizations that use health IT to improve outcomes for patients while seeing a return on their technology investments.
Among the accomplishments that earned Mercy this distinction was their use of pathways in Epic to standardize care for 40 common conditions, like pneumonia and heart failure. Through standardization, Mercy has reduced the mortality rate for these conditions by 30% to 100% and saved $28 million over two years.
