Epic Community Members Reduce Mortality Rates, Improve Care
These organizations improved inpatient outcomes, process of care, extended outcomes, efficiency, and patient experience

Truven Health Analytics evaluated 338 health systems and 2,912 hospitals to identify the 15 highest achieving health systems in the U.S. Public data from the 2013 and 2014 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data, CMS Hospital Compare datasets, and 2014 Medicare cost reports was used to create the scorecards that focus on five performance domains: inpatient outcomes, process of care, extended outcomes, efficiency, and patient experience. Compared to their peers, Truven’s top 15 hospitals had:

  • 7% lower overall mortality rates
  • 1% lower complication rates
  • 3% lower ED wait times
  • 5% lower cost per episode
  • 7% higher patient satisfaction scores
  • 1/2 day earlier discharge time
